The University of Maryland, Baltimore recently tested and selected a new email security and anti-spam solution by IronPort. IronPort, an industry leader in the defense against email threats and a partner with Cisco Systems, represents a significant step towards helping defend the University against increasing security threats contained in spam email such as phishing attacks, scams and downloading of malicious code.
IronPort Anti spam Solution blocks hostile email based on the "reputation score" of the sender, allowing more efficient filtering for spam and viruses. IronPort sends out a daily summary report of messages classified as spam to the user quarantine list.
Administration and Finance LAN Administrators have tested IronPort for several weeks and find that the system is:
- Easy to manage
- Less intrusive
- Simple to use
- Efficient
