Q. How do I change my password?
A.
  • Create a password that conforms to the Financial Services Policies.

  • Simultaneously press CTRL, ALT, and DELETE.

  • In the window that appears, find the Change Password button on the lower right hand corner, and click.

  • In the window that appears, confirm your user name and domain, then fill in the blanks with the old password, then the new password. Finally, retype to confirm the new password and click OK

  • If all is correct, a message should appear saying your password has been changed successfully.

  • Click Cancel to exit the security window.

Q. How do I defragment my computer's hard drive?
A.
  • In the Start menu, select All Programs

  • In All Programs, click Accessories, System Tools, and finally Disk Defragmenter. Click to start the program.

  • When the program is running, locate the button second from the right on the bottom that says Defragmenter. Click that button and let the program run. On completion, it will prompt you to close the program.
    START >All Programs >Accessories >System Tools >Disk Defragmenter.

Q. How often should I defrag my system?
A. Defrag your system as often as is convenient.

Q. How do I set a password protected screensaver?
A.
  • With the mouse in an open space on the desktop, right click and go to Properties in the drop down box.


  • This will bring up a Display Properties window with tabs at the top. Click on the Screen Saver tab.


  • Within that tab, choose from the drop down box the screen saver you would like, and using the up or down arrow, adjust the time to the desired interval the screensaver will appear, if the computer is inactive.


  • Check On Resume, Password Protects. This will set it so that your existing password is necessary to get into the computer once the screensaver has started.


  • Close the display properties box by clicking OK. The screensaver is now set.

Q. How do I lock my computer?
A.
  • Simultaneously press CTRL, ALT, and DELETE.


  • In the new window, press the Lock Computer button and your computer will be locked for anyone without your password.

Q. Weird things are happening on my computer, so I wonder if I have a virus. What should I do?
A.
  • Disconnect your computer from the network and


  • Report any unusual computer behavior to Microsystems.

Q. I have this great software I brought from home. How do I install it?
A.Only someone from Microsystems should install software on your computer.

Q. What should I do with suspicious looking emails?
A. Do not open e-mails from people you do not know, or are otherwise suspicious of. Delete it immediately.

Q. Are there any other tips to help me ensure that my computer is secure and virus-free?
A.
  • Set your screensaver to be password protected.


  • Lock your workstation if you will be away from it for any length of time.


  • Keep your password secret.


  • Remember to allow your system to be patched if you are prompted.
