Expense Statement Guidelines |
Don't Wait!! Submit expense statements
IMMEDIATELY UPON RETURN FROM TRAVEL in order to avoid
processing delays. Last minute items received "just
in time" for the deadline may be delayed if
incomplete during periods when University of Maryland
may close for weather conditions, spring break and long
holidays as well as during peak periods including
year-end processing. Employees expense statements
received at the Travel desk before close of business on
the dates specified will normally be reimbursed in the
employee's paycheck in the following time frame:

To ensure that travelers are
reimbursed on a timely basis, verify that:

expenses are in compliance with
the
UMB
travel policy
- information is complete
-
math and chartstring information are
correct
- employee ID # and
travel request numbers are provided and are correct

both traveler and necessary
approving authority have signed
- required receipts and
explanation are attached
- When completing more than one expense statement for a trip, please attach receipts to the form that
correspond with those dates of travel.

When receipts and other attachments
are bulky, please put them in an envelope for their
submission and staple the envelope to the expense
statement. (Mark envelope with the traveler's name,
social security number, travel request number and
travel dates, in the event the items become
detached.)
